Both models are Premium specification, with the 2.3L version having Equipment Group 200A and the GT having EG 400A. Additionally, both models come with a Performance Pack. The group equipment on the cars is largely similar to the Australian-specification Mustang.
The 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine in the Mustang GT is capable of producing 416 PS at 6,500 rpm and 530 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. This is slightly detuned compared to the US version, which has 435 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque at the same rpms. The local version of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine has a power output of 317 PS at 5,500 rpm and 432 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. This is a marginal increase in power (two mechanical horses) compared to the American EB 23's output of 310 hp and 434 Nm of torque at the same rpms.
Both versions of the Mustang in Malaysia come equipped with a ZF-based 6R80 six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, complete with paddle shifters. The cars also feature a SYNC 2 infotainment system, which includes an eight-inch LCD touchscreen with a rear-view camera, Bluetooth, and USB connection. However, there is no navigation system included in the local models. The audio system for both cars includes a nine-speaker complement, which is a midline set-up, slightly better than the base six-speaker system that comes with a 4.2-inch screen.
The luxury car variant of Mustang in Malaysia come with standard safety features such as ESC, Isofix mount points, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and eight airbags (front, front-seat side, side curtain airbags, a driver's knee airbag and an active glovebox knee-airbag for the front passenger). However, the local models do not include a blind-spot information system (BLIS) and cross-traffic alert, nor a driver's seat/side-view mirror memory feature, which are components specified in the Equipment Group 201A pack (or 401A for the 5.0 GT). This means that the Shaker logo in the center console of the cars seen in the photos, such as the Race Red 2.3L EcoBoost and Yellow Tri-Coat 5.0 GT, does not indicate the presence of the Shaker Pro Audio System with 12 speakers and an amplifier.
